In the northernmost part of Lake Garda, where the mountains dominate the lake landscape, there is a place of remarkable beauty: the Busatte Tempesta trail.
Geographically, it is located in the territory of Torbole sul Garda and more precisely in that area of the lake that with the nearby Riva del Garda belongs to the Trentino Alto Adige region.
The Busatte Tempesta trail is about 8 kilometres long and starts in the locality of Busatte, right next to the nearby Adventure Park. In this area, you can easily park your car and then continue on foot along the trail.
The first part of the trail is flat and passes through green meadows and a picnic area, then it begins to climb slightly, passing through a particularly attractive wooded area. After a few hundred metres the forest begins to thin out, revealing enchanting views of the houses of nearby Torbole, of Monte Brione and, further in the distance, of the town of Riva del Garda.
The most impressive part of the Busatte Tempesta trail begins with the famous staircase suspended in the void. This steel structure is firmly anchored to the rock face and then descends through the vegetation below. The panorama from this staircase is truly unique and sweeps over a large portion of Lake Garda, which fades into the horizon in a southerly direction.
Certainly some people suffering from vertigo might have some hesitation before tackling the first steps of the staircase, but it is good to remember that the structure has a high parapet that instils a high sense of confidence. In this regard, there are no particular problems in tackling this route even for families with children, but we always recommend due care and appropriate behaviour.
Along the Busatte Tempesta trail, there are numerous signs with information on the flora and fauna of Monte Baldo, as well as useful information about other nearby trails. At the end of the suspended part, the trail continues downhill on a dirt road until it reaches Tempesta, where the trail ends right next to the Gardesana road, in the presence of a bus stop.
The breathtaking view and the particular shape of the place make the Busatte Tempesta trail one of the most impressive hikes on Lake Garda. We advise you to walk it with the right equipment, trekking shoes, and during the summer period to avoid the hottest hours of the day, since a large part of the route is completely exposed to the sun's rays.
