Introduction to the Lake Garda climate
Lake Garda, formerly called Benaco, is the largest of the Italian lakes. Its geographical position is located between the regions of Veneto, Lombardy and Trentino Alto Adige, in an area characterised by very different landscapes.
The southern part of Lake Garda is in fact morainic, consisting of a continuous alternation of gentle hills and flat areas. In contrast to the latter, in the northern part the landscape changes radically, leaving space for decidedly higher mountains such as Monte Baldo (2,218 m above sea level) and typically alpine panoramas.
These unique characteristics, combined with the considerable size of Lake Garda (surface area 370 km2 - length 51.5 km - maximum width 17.5 km - perimeter 162 km - maximum depth 346 m) actively influence the climate and consequently also the weather between the various areas.
For this reason we have divided the weather forecasts for Lake Garda into three sections, as shown in the graphs below.
